"You’re not old, you’re beautiful"
One of my third graders today
Yesterday the fat guy in Verizon told me not to gain the freshman fifteen or thirty when I get to school. I’m a junior.
so I’m on the phone with my boyfriend. He’s taking a quiz for his summer course and I’m just listening to music and the background noise on the phone. It’s like being back with him at school and not 3 hours away. and this, this right here is the best.
So I need to take a moment and rant about something that has been on my mind for a while but has been reinforced by my job as a camp counselor. Children today are awful. A good majority of them don’t have parents. I’m not saying they are orphans, but they don’t receive discipline, order or structure in their lives. The parents are their buddies who give them whatever they want whenever they want it. Every day I deal with kids who don’t listen to directions, complain relentlessly and think the world owes them because they were born and take up space. Just because you are here doesn’t mean you get shit. Parents need to teach their children respect, humility, kindness, the will to give instead of take and all the other things our parents have taught us. If you are going to have a child it is your responsibility to make sure they have the structure in their lives to turn into decent adults. The kids I deal with everyday are the reason that I genuinely fear the time I am old and grey and they are in charge.
I am the pokemon master. My camp kids kill me.
